A RAPPER raped a woman on Southend seafront after trying to seduce her in two of the town’s nightclubs, a court heard.

Olawale Hassan, also known by his stage name “Goldie 1”, is said to have told his alleged victim to “Google him” to find out about his music career in the lead up to the incident.

He is accused of three counts of raping the 23-year-old woman in his car outside the Genting Casino in Southend, and one count of sexual assault.

He denies all the charges.

Prosecuting, Katherine Davey told a jury of seven men and five women that Hassan had met two women at the Varsity night venue on February 25, 2017, making advances on one of them, and then continuing with them to Talk nightclub at about 1am.

She said: “She wasn’t interested in him sexually but didn’t think he was a problem.

“When the second nightclub Talk closed, her friend went back home with her boyfriend.

“The woman accepted a lift from the defendant on repeated promises he would ‘get her home safely’.

“He took her to the parking spot outside Genting Casino, she was in the passenger seat, and he repeatedly raped her.”

Ms Davey told the jury that it was the Crown Prosecution’s case that Hassan, of Falcone Avenue, Grays, had been “looking for a woman from the off” when he went out that night.

She said Hassan had asked the woman at least twice to go back to a hotel when he drove her and her friend from Varsity to Talk in his BMW.

Ms Davey added: “He repeatedly insisted to them and to the police that they should Google him.

“There is an amount of evidence to suggest she did not consent.

“She was making her objections strenuously known.”

The woman reported the incident to police the following day.

The trial is expected to last for the whole of this week.

The trial continues.
