A FAMILIAR venue has switched its usual city centre pitch for the seafront as it launches a season of outdoor entertainment.

The Warren has a new purpose-built site next to Brighton Palace Pier where a series of acts hope to delight socially distanced crowds over the next seven weeks.

These include the likes of comedians Marcus Brigstock, Milton Jones and Paul Sinha, as well as performances from S***faced Shakespeare, The Dolly Parton Story, Tom Brace’s Magic Show and A Sperm Odyssey.

There will also be evenings hosted by Komedia's Krater Komedy Club, with the Mash Report star Rachel Parris set to make an appearance.

The venue has been set up by production company Otherplace.

The organisation's artistic director Nicola Haydn said: "There’s no getting round it, these past few months of lockdown have been catastrophic for the arts. But creative people thrive on challenge and ever since March, when we had to cancel The Warren, we’ve been thinking about ways to return safely and effectively.

The Argus:

“We’re so excited to have found a new way to bring live performance back to the city.

"The Warren Outdoor Season is going to be a different experience to previous Otherplace events, but with the same fantastic atmosphere and high production values.

"It’s been a long time coming but I think we’re all ready to have some (socially-distanced) fun again."
