RESIDENTS can have a commemorative bench installed in a popular park to remember loved ones.
Witham Town Council says the new scheme will allow people in the town to have a lasting tribute to late family and friends.
The council says residents can choose to have a bench installed along River Walk, as well as in James Cooke Wood and at the Whetmead Nature Reserve.
Wooden and cast-iron benches are available and cost up to £1,100. The fee also includes three year's maintenance.
A town council spokesman said: "The council recognises that a memorial bench in memory of a loved one is a tradition that many wish to choose as a lasting tribute and are therefore pleased to offer this new scheme for those who wish to make a lasting tribute to a significant other in their life."
