Damage to overhead electric wires is causing long delays on the c2c this morning.
The fault happened between Pitsea and Grays and has blocked the line, causing "severe disruption" for early morning commuters.
The damage is also causing problems further across the network, with routes including Ockendon, Rainham and Tilbury Town all being affected.
Some trains have been cancelled, whilst others may be diverted or suspended.
Passengers have been advised by the c2c team to avoid traveling if possible until later this morning and a rail replacement bus service has been put in place in both directions between Pitsea and Grays via Tilbury while the disruption continues.
