THE 1930’s was a period of great change in the Grays area, particular in Little Thurrock, due to the expansion of the housing Estate between Lodge Lane which was the old A13 to Southend and Long Lane in the north.
This photograph shows Premier Avenue, Stifford Clays, a typical 1930’s suburban scene.
In the foreground can be seen the newly built Stifford Clays Baptist Church opened on Saturday October 8 1933, although the origins of the Church date back to the 1890s.
