A MAN arrested as part of a major investigation following the discovery of a significant number of weapons and ammunition remains under investigation nearly a year later.
Police stumbled upon a cache on weapons at a property in London Road, Copford, in June last year.
They had been called because of concerns about a man’s welfare.
Specialist officers were at the house round-the-clock for a number of weeks searching and cataloguing evidence.
A search was also carried out at the same time at a house in Hugh Dickson Road, Colchester.
A third property in Temple Road, Colchester, was combed in August.
Army bomb disposal experts were also called to the scene.
The man, who was 71 at the time, was arrested and later bailed but then released under investigation.
Essex Police have now confirmed he remains under investigation and the probe in continuing.
