IT IS a very happy birthday to one former Whitchurch resident, as she celebrates turning 100.

Dorothy Daniel was raised at Fenns Banks, but celebrated reaching 100-years-old on Saturday, May 24 at her community nursing home in the small Canadian town of Avonlea in Saskatchewan.

Although social distancing meant family members could not visit Dorothy her birthday was marked by a drive-by parade of friends, family and community members.

Dorothy’s daughter Annette Stevenson said Dorothy appreciated the goodwill messages.

She said: “Dorothy wants everyone in the community of Avonlea to know how much she appreciates you all, young or old friends.

“She has always considered how lucky as an English warbride dad brought to such a great place.

“Thanks everyone”

Although unable to congratulate her in person, many more of Dorothy’s family and friends wished her well online.
