A PROBE has been launched after a rape was reported in South Ockendon.

It was reported that between 11pm and midnight on Friday May 8, a teenage girl was raped on Broxburn Drive.

A 26-year-old man from South Ockendon was arrested in connection and has been released on bail until Thursday June 4.

Det Sgt Kennedy Emson said: "The victim is being supported by specialist officers as we continue to carry out our enquiries.

"We are treating this as an isolated incident and we do not believe there is any further risk to the community.

"We understand that a man was walking his dog in the area around this time and stopped to speak to a teenage girl and a man aged in his 20s.

"We are really keen to speak to this man, as we believe he could have vital information that could help with our investigation.

"The dog walker was described as being aged in his 50s, around 6ft tall and of a medium build. He also had a local accent."

Anyone with information or can help identify the man described should call 101 quoting reference 42/66980/20.
