COUNCILS say they won’t be making changes to their services until new guidance is revealed by prime minister Boris Johnson later today.
Both BCP Council and New Forest District Council told residents there will be no alterations to their current services following Mr Johnson’s address to the nation last night.
BCP Council said: “We won't be making any changes to our current service restrictions until we have undertaken a thorough review of any new guidance that comes out of the government's expected announcement tonight.”
New Forest District Council said: “We have been preparing for a number of weeks for how to safely re-open our sites and services.
“Following the PM’s announcement tonight we will be taking the time in the coming days to carefully review this new Government information and will look at the emerging guidance to see what this means for NFDC.
“We will only make changes to services, which includes our coastal car parks, after careful consideration of customer and staff safety, and when we are sure social distancing can be upheld.”
They urged residents to stay at home “as much as possible”, work from home if they can, limit contact with others, keep a distance of two metres between themselves and others, wash their hands often and self-isolate if people or anyone in their household has symptoms.
All three of BCP Council’s tips will reopen today, with most of Dorset Council’s household recycling centres also reopening.
