THE iconic Basildon sign on the A127 was turned blue tonight as the nation joined together in a collective Clap for our Carers to honour NHS medics, carers and all essental workers.
Council leader Gavin Callaghan tweeted about Basildon's brilliant response to the national campaign to thank all those frontline workers helping the country through Covid-19.
Mr Callaghan tweeted:"Tonight we are lighting up the Basildon sign on the A127, blue for the NHS and all our key workers."
He joined with the Mayor of Basildon to join thousands of people across the borough clapping for our NHS and all our key workers.
Southend's famous Golden Mile lights are also staying blue as a mark of respect.
