MORE than 170 patients with coronavirus have died in Hampshire.
Figures released by the NHS have revealed that a further 23 people who tested positive for the virus have died in the last 24 hours in Hampshire, bringing to total number of deaths in the county to 179.
The figures cover the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
At the UHS, a total of 45 people who tested positive have died - a jump of 10 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Queen Alexandra Hospital Cosham, has now had 85 deaths - up from 80 deaths in the last 24 hours.
A total of 49 deaths have been recorded at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which handles Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, Andover War Memorial Hospital, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and Alton Community Hospital.
This is a jump of eight deaths in the last 24 hours.
Across the UK, 7,248 people have died after testing positive for coronavirus.
