COUNCIL bosses say they are helping borough businesses benefit from Government grants.

Thurrock Council is acting quickly to help businesses take full advantage of government grants available to help them stay afloat during the coronavirus outbreak.

The following grants are available to businesses and shops in the borough: £10,000 for businesses in receipt of Small Business Rates Relief or Rural Rates Relief, £10,000 for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or less, £25,000 for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000.

Businesses do not need to apply for the funding. It is vitally important, however, that the council has the correct contact and payment details to enable swift payment to businesses, many of which will be closed and cannot receive post.

Council bosses say, any business owner who thinks they are eligible for one of these grants should go to Thurrock Council’s business rates web pages to find out more about the help on offer and update their contact and payment details via an online form.
