THE TUC wrote to all Bradford MPs yesterday, to demand that local employers guarantee safe workplaces and no lay offs for their staff.

The union body says that MPs must call out bad practice in their constituencies, and campaign to ensure workers are safe and can stay at home with full pay where needed.

TUC Regional Secretary, Bill Adams (pictured), said: “Employers have no excuse for laying workers off now that the Government’s wage subsidy scheme is in place. Businesses can’t take a Government bailout but leave their staff out of pocket.

"No one going to work should have to endanger their own health and put their families and the wider community at risk. Those companies who refuse to comply must face the threat of closure.”
