BASILDON Hospital staff took a break from their exhausting shifts amid coronavirus pressures to dance to Olly Murs.

The Basildon theatres frontline crew caught the stars' attention after their performance to Dance With Me Tonight and were applauded by the Essex singer for their hard work.

Mr Murs later went on to offer the staff tickets to his next show.

He posted on Facebook: "Just seen this- yes ladies and the small cameo from the doctor in Basildon Essex! Tickets all round for my next show!

"You’re the best. #ThankYouNHS for keeping this country safe in such difficult times. Legends."

Following his post, the video went viral online, being viewed and shared hundreds of thousands of times.

On Twitter, the video has since gained more than five million views.

The dance break came shortly after Stephen Mulhern, presenter from Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, took to Twitter to announce that as there would be no audience in tomorrow's show, they were looking for stars of the classic End of The Show Show.

He challenged the public to film themselves dancing to Mr Murs's famous tune and submit it to ITV for a chance to appear on the show.

The segment at the end of the show on Saturday, which drew more than 11 million viewers, ended up featuring hundreds of video clips from around the country.

The Basildon nurses featured in a clip towards the end of the song.

More than 20,000 videos were submitted for inclusion in the show.

Posting on his page after the show, Mr Murs said: "To see so many people getting involved was amazing! The show had over 20,000 videos!

"Unbelievable. In these strangest of times so many of us are forced to stay at home but doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun, keep safe."
