ONLY Fools and Horses’ actor Paul Barber has officially opened a special beach hut for a disabled 23-year-old.

Andy Hodgson, managing director of Tendring Garden Products, has kindly created and donated a green beach hut to Tyler Bird.

Tahn Gueizelar, 45, of The Haven, Dovercourt, said the opening event on Sunday was brilliant, with a good turnout.

She said: “Friends and family, even people I don’t really know came to show their support on this special day.

“Andy’s father-in-law did a little speech and then Paul cut the ribbon and said a few words.

“It was quite an emotional moment, and I surely wouldn’t have been able to do a speech without crying, so I’m really thankful.

“It was just an amazing day and experience, and we are still in shock that Tyler got a beach hut.”

The beach hut, named Tyler’s Manor, features an accessible ramp and other facilities for convenience.

Mr Hodgson said: “What a great turnout for Tyler’s beach hut opening, a massive thank you goes to the one and only Paul Barber or Denzil from Only Fools and Horses.

“Paul is a cracking bloke and gave a unique insight into the series, but most importantly gave up his time to cut the ribbon.”

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, people headed to the Cricket club, in West End Lane, where a bouncy castle was set up, with plenty of cake, refreshments and the opportunity to take pictures with the famous actor.
