A KIND-HEARTED boy took it upon himself to give out bunches of flowers to random residents who have spoken of their unbridled joy after they received them.

Oliver Lee-Allen, aged just nine, came up with the idea of giving out daffodils to random women as part of random act of kindness day.

The nine-year-old gave out seven bunches of flowers to women across Rochford, with some taking to social media to express their thanks at his gesture.

One lady stated she was “very emotional”, and she saw another recipient in tears after being given the flowers.

The flowers also came with a note attached, which Oliver had written.

It read: “In a world where we can be anything, be kind.”

Oliver’s mum, Kayleigh-Eloise Avery, told the Echo that she was so proud of her son.

The 30-year-old, said: “It’s so nice to know that he’s thinking of others.

“He’d seen a lot in the news and on social media about being kind. It’s all negative at the moment.

“It was lovely to see how people reacted.

“One lady was really touched by it.

“It had a really positive effect on them and Oliver.”

Ms Avery added: “One lady told us that she had passed them on to someone else.

“This made him even happier.

“He was really pleased that someone else was happy.

“We were aiming to do it in the summer holidays but he wanted to do it straight away.

“The flowers made people smile. It’s what he wanted.”

The proud mum added: “He likes giving to people. When he visits his great grandad in his care home he hands out cakes to everyone there. He really enjoys it.

“I’m beyond proud of him.”

Another happy resident thanked Oliver on social media.

She said that she “couldn’t stop smiling” and confirmed she was the woman who passed the flowers on.

She added: “I was so inspired I gave them to someone else, who couldn’t stop smiling for the random act of kindness by a young lad, who gave me a beautiful bunch of daffodils.”

A lady who witnessed Oliver hand over the flowers to a woman said the lady who received them had tears in her eyes when she walked away.
