A PEDESTRIAN has died after being hit by a lorry on A127 at Rayleigh Weir, police has confirmed.
Police remain at the scene following the tragic incident which took place around 2.20pm.
A spokesman for Essex Police, said: "Emergency services arrived, but sadly the pedestrian had died at the scene.
"The A127 is closed in both direction between the junction with the A130 and Progress Road, as well as the Rayleigh Weir.
"The roads will remain closed for some time and we ask road users to avoid the area and expect delays.
"We would like to hear from anyone who has any information about the incident particularly those with dash cam footage.
"Please contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting incident 631 of 21 February or by emailing collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk"
