A GANG of thugs beat two teenagers before robbing them.

The teens were approached by a gang of four, who proceeded to hit the pair before stealing valuables including their phones, money and coats.

Shortly after, witnesses took to social media to reveal how the incident, at about 6.30pm on Tuesday, had left them, children who were there at the time and the victims, “traumatised”, warning others to stay vigilant.

Laindon Park Councillor John Scarola, added: “I am in total disbelief to hear that this has happened. Nothing like this has ever taken place in our ward before, and I am disgusted that anyone would do such a thing.

“It really is appalling behaviour and to think it must have happened outside when loads of people were around. It’s only a ten minute walk from my home.

“I would advise anyone who saw anything suspicious to report it to the police, and send my best wishes to the victims. I am honestly shocked.”

A bystander who was at the scene outside Lidl, Manor Road, Laindon, reported the incident to the police.

Essex Police are hoping to reach both victims for further information, and are asking anyone who could assist them with their investigation to come forward.

A spokesperson from Essex Police, said: “We received a call at around 6.35pm on Tuesday January 27 where a third party reported two people had been robbed in Manor Road, Laindon.
