Drivers across Colchester are facing delays due to the Ipswich Road roadworks.

Essex Travel News reports there are numerous delays across the town this morning.

There is slow moving traffic on Ipswich Road southbound, Cowdray Avenue eastbound and St. Andrews Avenue west bound on the approach to the roundabout due to ongoing road closure in place for Network Rails works.

Ipswich Road south has been closed until mid February to allow contractors to complete piling works on site.

As part of the closure, drivers heading into town from the north of Colchester have been stopped from turning right into Cowdray Avenue from Ipswich Road.

Instead, vehicles are being forced down St Andrew’s Avenue and back on themselves, leading to queues in the area.

Earlier today there were also delays at Cymbeline Way and Northern Approach Road.
