A PROUD mum says her daughter’s life has changed after she became a ‘plus size’ model.

Cara Maris-Betts, 27, started taking part in beauty pageants three years ago.

She travels around the country and even abroad for the shows, which are open to budding beauty queens of all shapes and sizes.

Mum Stella, from Great Yeldham, said: “We do lots of pageants across the country and fundraising for charity. It doesn’t matter if you are size six or 26.

“Cara wins titles and is off to a pageant in Spain in April. There is one at Lakeside on Sunday – they are all over the place.”

“It builds her confidence and self-esteem, and she also meets new friends.

“She isn’t as shy as she used to be and she’s like a different person when she is on stage.”

Fundraising is part of pageant process.

In the past the mother and daughter team have raised money for the air ambulance, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Mind.

They are currently raising cash for Sick Children’s Trust.

Stella is holding a charity indoor market at Little Yeldham village hall every Saturday in February from 10am to 2pm.
