A FIRE broke out at a house in Shoebury.
The house fire broke out on High Street at 1.43pm this afternoon.
At least five fire engines are in attendance and the fire service has advised people avoid the area.
A spokesman said: "On arrival firefighters reported that there was a fire on both floors of the house and worked to bring it under control; extinguishing it within an hour.
"At 2.45pm firefighters reported they were awaiting the arrival of the gas and electric board to ensure the scene is safe.
"This is an ongoing incident. More information will be added when it is available."
