POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man in his 60s was robbed and left with broken ribs on Long Riding, Basildon.

At around 9pm, on Sunday December 22, the victim had his bank cards stolen and was assaulted, leaving him with a black eye and broken.

Officers are keen to speak to a woman who was driving a blue car and stopped to assist the victim, as well as a man from a nearby flat who came to help.

The bank cards were later used at several shops in Timberlog Lane, including the Post Office, The Food Shop and Off Licence.

No arrests have been made.
