A man was rushed to hospital after being found with stab wounds to his his chest and leg on Friday night. 

Police officers were called to the scene in Caister Drive, Pitsea, where a man was found by paramedics around 9pm and taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not being described as life-threatening.

A man was arrested but later released on bail.

A spokesman for Essex Police, said: "A man has been arrested following an incident in Basildon where a man was found with stab wounds.

"We were called by the ambulance service to an address in Caister Drive where a man was found with injuries to his chest and leg at around 9pm on Friday January 3.

"He has been taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not being described as life-threatening.

"A 24 year-old man from London was later arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent. He has since been released on bail until January 25."

A resident posted on Facebook: "I live in Caister Drive and literally got home as ambulance was leaving last night.

"I heard a gentleman got stabbed so have been wondering all day if he was okay, so it's good to hear he is."
