MORE than 70 cub scouts from across Crouch Valley’s 14fourteen cub packs attended their annual Christmas carol service.
It was held at Holy Trinity Church in Rayleigh on the evening of the Tuesday, December 3.
The evening events were hosted by John Blundell, Assistant District Commissioner Cub Scouts, and ably supported by fellow cub Scout leaders.
The service started off, with each cub pack parading their flag into the church. The evening was a mixture of interactive games, as well as singing a few traditional carols.
The evening also saw two cubs from 2nd Rayleigh being presented with their Chief Scout Solver Award, by Crouch Valley’s District Commissioner Paul Stafford, the highest award a cub can earn.
Tony Humphries, assistant county training manager, said: “During the evening, we also presented a cheque to the Royal British Legion for £1,500. This was raised from the sale of our ‘Least We Forget’ Remembrance Badge, which was specially designed this year by Lee Harrison, Group Scout Leader for 2nd Canewdon, and can be worn on their uniform.” The cubs raised £3,000 for RBL this year.
