A STUDENT has scooped an excellence scholarship for her university.

India Talora De Verre, from Stanway, was given £3,500 along with the award from Bangor University.

The former Colchester Institute student is now reading zoology.

Some 124 students were honoured at the ceremony were £290,000 in scholarships were awarded.

Marketing manager Amanda Smith said: “Our scholarship awards mean that we’re able to recognise and reward those who either excel in our entrance scholarship examinations, or achieve the highest academic attainment upon entry.

“We're really keen to attract the best calibre students to Bangor University and to support those students as far as possible."
