DANNY Scopes hopes Lamar Reynolds will be brimming with confidence after scoring his first hat-trick in Concord Rangers colours.

Reynolds’ trio of goals put the Beach Boys on course for a resounding 6-0 victory over Great Wakering Rovers in the fourth round of the Essex Senior Cup.

And Scopes hopes the summer signing will be able to replicate that form in National League South action.

“It was great that Lamar got some good minutes on the pitch and he took advantage of that by scoring a hat-trick,” said Concord boss Scopes.

“He has been in and out of the squad over the course of the season due to injury and rotation.

“But now we’re hoping he will be able to kick on after a great performance against Wakering.

“The National League South is a challenging division and it’s difficult to score a hat-trick.

“There are not many forwards who get hat-tricks at this level - they are few and far between - but it would be great if Lamar could take that kind of performance into match where points are on offer.

“I know the hat-trick will give him confidence and belief.

“There is still time during the season for Lamar to get lots of goals.

“I’m aware that he has been in and out of the team and strikers need a bit of rhythm, so hopefully he can build on that.”

Concord completed their triumph over Isthmian North side Wakering and reached the quarter-finals of the Essex Senior Cup thanks to Scott High and Kit Elliott recording their first goals for the club.

The duo have joined on loan from Championship outfit Huddersfield Town, who are managed by former Beach Boys chief Danny Cowley.

High got his name on the scoresheet before Elliott netted from the penalty spot.

Elliott then completed his brace and the scoring at the Aspect Arena.

And Scopes was pleased to see Elliott, who signed his first professional contract with Huddersfield last week, convert his chances.

“Kit has made a few appearances off the bench as he adjusts into men’s football a bit more,” added Scopes.

“Getting 90 minutes at this level will allow Kit to build confidence.

“He was a threat all night and it was great that he got two goals.

“The main objective of the game was get the win to allow us to move into the next round.

“We achieved that and it was nice to see the likes of Kit, Scott and Lamar contributing.”
