CROWDS filled out Colchester’s high street as Christmas cheer arrived in town.
Shoppers were wowed by stilt walkers, dancers and singers in the build-up to the light switch-on last night.
Panto stars Dale Superville and Antony Stuart-Hicks, who are starring in the Mercury Theatre’s Cinderella Pantomime, performed for the crowd ahead of Santa arriving in town on his sleigh.
The big switch-on of the Christmas lights then took place with the mayor of Colchester Nick Cope in charge of proceedings with a helping hand provided by Father Christmas.
There was also a host of festive fun throughout the afternoon in Culver Square with singing and dancing.
