A PRIMARY school fireworks display went with a bang with funds rocketing up to total £14,000.

Heathlands Primary School, in West Bergholt, hosted its 27th display this year.

The event saw record profits raised for the school by sponsors Mantis Cars and the school’s parent teacher association fireworks committee.

The team spent nine months organising the display, which culminated with more than 4,500 people attending to enjoy the spectacle.

The display has become well-known as one to go to and this year lasted 18 minutes and fired more than 5,000 effects.

The display was also synchronised to a musical accompaniment, which was selected by the children’s council at the school.

Planning is already underway for next year’s display which will be on Saturday, November 7.
