An attempted knifepoint robbery in Southend has sparked a police appeal. 

Police were called at around 5.40pm on November 6 after a man walked into Prince Food and Wine in Prince Avenue and demanded money.

During the attempted robbery, the man held a knife in his hand.

He left the scene towards Cuckoo Corner empty handed after the worker bravely refused his demands.

Police would like to talk to the person image, who is wearing a distinctive blue and red crash helmet. 

He was also wearing a dark green scarf that had floral patterns on it and a light coloured jacket.
