POLICE are hunting bike riding yobs who toured an estate throwing rocks through car windows.

Two men were seen riding mountain bikes and throwing rocks on the Somercotes estate, Laindon.

Residents reported on Sunday that several vehicles were damaged on Elizabeth Way and Iris Mews at around 9.30pm, with reports stating that concrete was also being thrown at cars by the yobs.

Victims have expressed their fury on social media following the incidents.

One posted: “Our neighbours car has had their window put through and heard another one as they rode off. They are riding past and throwing large bits of concrete.”

Another commented: “It’s just getting worse everywhere.

“Wait until they grow up and save up for a car, only for someone to do it to their property. I’m sure they would think differently then.”

There has been a recent spate in yobs using rocks to damage cars, with dozens of cars heavily damaged across Billericay and Wickford, with the use of a catapult in October.

A spokesman from Essex Police said: “We were called to reports of criminal damage in Elizabeth Way, Basildon on Sunday November 10, at around 9.20pm.

“Two men described as aged between 19-24, were riding mountain bikes and were reported to be throwing rocks at cars.

“The first man was described as wearing a black hoodie and blue jogging bottoms. The second man was wearing a black puffer style coat.
