A CONVERTED cannabis farm was uncovered after police raided a warehouse in Basildon.

About 250 plants were found in the warehouse and have now been seized.

The large find was made by officers on Tuesday at a large warehouse in Bowlers Croft, at around 5.50pm.

PC Si Bailey shared some images of the find which revealed the large volume of cannabis plants and a professional growing operation which was kitted out with fans and lighting.

He added that no arrests had been made and that the owner can “talk to us at Basildon police station” if he wants to make his identity known.

This is the latest in a number of large cannabis farms found in the area, with more than 100 cannabis plants found in a home in Seaview Avenue, Basildon, on August 28, while a crop of cannabis plants were also found at an address in Pitsea as police carried out a raid recently.

And at the start of August a huge crop of roughly 650 plants were found at a cultivation in Benfleet which was stretched across two different floors.

PC Bailey said: “Colleagues and I did a spot of gardening after some large plants were found in a warehouse in Basildon.

“To the owner, we have your plants in a safe place.

“If you would like them back, please come and talk to us at Basildon police station.”

At this stage no arrests have been made by police, and it is believed the warehouse was empty at the time of the raid.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We have seized 250 cannabis plants and equipment associated with the production of cannabis following a warrant in Basildon on Tuesday, September 17.

“Officers from Basildon’s community policing team searched an address in Bowlers Croft at around 5.50am.

“No arrests have been made.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Basildon CPT on 101 quoting incident 166 of 17/09.”
