JOHN Sussex admits Basildon United are facing a ‘mammoth task’ when they visit Maldon & Tiptree tomorrow.

Maldon have been victorious in all seven of their matches so far this term.

And Sussex is hoping his Bees side, who are 17th in the Isthmian North standings, can end the Jammers’ impressive run.

“It isn’t getting any easier,” said the Basildon boss.

“We have already been away to Grays Athletic and Bury Town and now we are going to Maldon.

“All of those teams are expected to be up there challenging for promotion this season, so we have had a difficult run of fixtures presented to us.

“But we are looking forward to going to Maldon and we know they are a very good side.

“We appreciate it’s a mammoth task because they have a 100 per cent winning record in all competitions so far this season.

“If we remain organised and have a bit of luck, anything can happen.

“I have a really strong squad to select from.”

The Bees head to Park Drive following a 2-1 FA Cup first qualifying round victory over Coggeshall Town.

And Sussex is hoping to build on the triumph.

“It’s difficult to know how we should set ourselves up at the weekend because we beat Coggeshall and you don’t necessarily want to change a winning team,” added Sussex.

“But we know they are a very good side with fantastic players at their disposal.

“We go into the game with a lot of confidence after beating a side who are likely to be competing for the title.”
