GREAT Wakering Rovers will be in action for the first time in 10 days tonight.

Wakering are set to make the trip to Isthmian North rivals Witham Town as they get their Isthmian League Cup group stage campaign underway.

And player-manager Steve Butterworth feels the clash marks the start of a month which will make or break Wakering’s season.

“The Isthmian League Cup may not be among our priorities this term, but we want to win every game that we are involved in,” said Butterworth.

“Every game is tough and we will be expecting no different tonight.

“We have trained all week and worked on a few bits after three consecutive defeats followed two wins on the trot.

“We have got one of the biggest months of our season coming up because we are playing some teams that are likely to be closer to the bottom of the table than the top.

“If we want to do well and achieve anything this season, they are the games we have to win.

“The month will allow us to see where we really are.

“Hopefully we will come out the other side of the run of fixtures in a good place.”

Wakering suffered a 2-1 loss to Dereham Town last time out.

And Wakering are searching for a first win in four outings.
