A FILMMAKER is jetting off to Hollywood this month to showcase a short film that was shot in Dorset.

Gemma Paul, of Twisted Root Productions, will see short film Adam screened at the Lift-Off Film Festival in Los Angeles after it was selected from 2,500 entries from across the globe.

Adam, which has been described as a new take on the classic gothic horror Frankenstein, was filmed at Southwell Park on Portland with a night shoot also taking place at St. George’s Church.

Days later, the film will be shown at the Lady Filmmakers Festival which also takes place in Los Angeles.

This will be the second year running that a short film by Gemma has been screened in Hollywood. Last year Gemma’s film Underland picked up a number of awards on the US festival circuit.

Gemma said: “Adam is currently doing exceptionally well on the festival circuit, having already won multiple awards, but to be accepted and shown in Hollywood, not once but twice, is beyond a dream come true.”

“I am proud to represent female filmmakers, especially those within the horror genre, and am looking forward to heading to Los Angeles. LA Lift-Off and Lady Filmmakers offer an opportunity to network with people in the industry and make invaluable contacts. I saw this last year when I become close friends with a female Producer in Boston, together we are currently working on several exciting projects, including my next short film.”
