A TALENTED young rider who is a member of a Bournemouth BMX club has become a double British champion.

Billy Brown, 12, of Bournemouth BMX Club, won during both days of the HSBC UK BMX British Championships end-of-season event which was hosted in Derby.

The young racer missed out on the national series title at the Bournemouth National Series in August, despite winning six rounds of the series.

However, he went on to put things right to win the coveted number one plate in both bike categories in which he competes.

Billy said: “It feels great to have become British Champion on both the bikes I race! I’ve really enjoyed racing this season, and to hit the top spot is the icing on the cake.”

John Twitchen, vice-chairman of Bournemouth BMX Club and one of the club coaches, said: “Billy’s topped off a brilliant year with a peerless, world class performance by winning every single qualifying lap and both his finals at the Brits. Billy is a great bike rider and definitely one to watch for the future.”
