DARLINGTON FOOTBALL CLUB’S new foundation has launched its first health initiative by urging fans to join in the town’s weekly Parkrun next month.

Everyone connected with the Quakers is being invited to get involved with the Parkrun in South Park on Saturday, September 14 – the date of a home game against York City – by either running or volunteering.

The 5k Parkrun is one of more than 600 which take place at locations across the country every Saturday morning, starting at 9am.

Steve Rose, chairman of the Darlington FC Foundation, said: “The event on September 14 is an opportunity for Darlo fans who are lapsed parkrunners to get back involved. It is also an opportunity for those who have been thinking about improving their physical fitness but just need that final push into action.

“All Darlo supporters, either volunteering or taking part in the run, are encouraged to wear their Darlo tops, hats, scarves or whatever they fancy. The success of the Foundation’s involvement will be measured by the number of first-timers that take part and then return for future runs.”
