MALDON Fire Station have been working for two days to halt a woodland fire.

The crew were called to reports of a fire in an area of Heybridge yesterday afternoon (Thursday August 22).

The team then had to return today (Friday August 23) to fully extinguish the blaze.

A spokesman for the fire station, said: "When we arrived, a request for a second machine to attend the incident was needed due to the lack of water supply in the area.

"Once the fire was out, crews using hose reels then continued to damped down due to the fire being deep seated within the ground."
