A NEW cafe with some quirky features including a makeshift garden has officially opened.
Josh Dalziel celebrated the opening of Coffee Hog in Colchester with his sister and business partner Ellis.
Josh, 32, has run an external catering company for the past two years, specialising in hog roasts and barbecues.
He has always wanted to set up his own deli and coffee shop, so with the help of his sister he launched Coffee Hog in William Harris Way.
It incorporates his external catering menu, serving homemade pulled pork sandwiches and sausage rolls as well as breakfasts, lunches and other snacks. Josh said: “The unit needed work from top to bottom as it was a complete shell, but I took the plunge.
“I’m 32 now and I have a six-year-old, when you try and get together with friends who have children the same age it’s hard to find somewhere.
“I have created a fake garden so the children can come and play while their parents meet.
“The opening day went really well. The card machine wouldn’t work until four minutes before we were due to open but apart from that everything went fine.”
The cafe will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, between 8am and 4pm.
Councillors, friends and family attended the official opening.
