DRIVEWAYS made out of recycled plastic will be available to residents in Colchester.

Oltco, a sustainable resin driveway company, has just launched its Colchester franchise run by Liam Dorian.

Recycle Bound is the firm’s most innovative product, which will be used across Colchester and nearby towns and villages.

Made from waste plastic straws, plastic drink bottles and plastic food packaging, each square metre of Recycle Bound consists of the equivalent of 3,000 plastic straws.

Liam said: “I’m delighted to be launching Oltco across Colchester and the surrounding towns and villages and I can’t wait to create the wow factor for customers Oltco has become well known for.

“Oltco’s ethos to feel good about the work they do and the decisions they make is totally in line with my own so when the opportunity to launch Oltco in my home town came up, I knew this was an opportunity I could not miss.

“As the first franchise providing Oltco’s unique resin bound driveway solutions across Essex, I’m really excited about growing the innovative business across the county and taking on more and more territories in the region.”

The plastic is collected from a waste plastic point and sent to a recycling plant.

This plastic is then recycled into new food packaging and the wasted element is what is used in Oltco’s blends to create Recycle Bound.

Liam added: “Once this sorting is completed, the waste plastic must be washed and dried before it can be used. Bespoke machinery was created for this process.

“When the waste plastic is thoroughly washed and dried it is combined with larger, smaller and fine aggregates which are mixed with a UV stable polyurethane resin.

“This is what has made the blend even stronger than other resin solutions meaning the tensile strength is higher, and it can hold more weight.

“In fact, it is the strongest system Oltco has ever tested.”
