A GARDEN party raised more than £3,000 towards a plan to revive Purleigh’s playground.
A group of volunteers hosted the party in the village to raise money for the Purleigh Playground Project.
The event, which saw a host of live music from Asha-Louise, the John Seeley Jazz Band and Nathan Hassall, raised £3,313 for the project.
The cash will help install brand new play equipment in Howe Green Road.
Previous equipment had been severely vandalised, resulting in its closure.
The cash will make up a huge amount of the £7,300 needed. Leah Jewiss, of the Purleigh Community Fund, was thrilled with the turnout at the garden party.
She said: “We’ve had some fantastic feedback and it seems people most definitely ate, drank, got merry and spent generously.
“We’re so pleased everyone enjoyed themselves. We are now delighted to announce that with all the spending, sponsorship and donations, we made a grand total of £3,313.
“There are just a couple of little bits of paperwork and final permissions to get through and we can start installing the first phase of the playground.”
