A MUM whose baby died when he was just four-months-old is hosting a fun day in his memory.

Zoe Seager found out early on in her pregnancy her baby, Henry, had health problems.

However, she did not expect him to lose his fight so early.

Zoe, 26, from Colchester, said when her son was born weighing just 4lbs, he was taken straight to the special care baby unit at Colchester Hospital.

Zoe was not able to see him until later that night on September 26, 2016.

Henry suffered from seizures although it is not known what caused them.

Due to his rare, life-threatening condition, he was transported back and forth to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridgeshire by the Acute Neonatal Transport Service.

Unfortunately, Henry did not spend any time at home and he died in January 2017.

Zoe now holds annual events called Henry’s Sunday Funday to raise money in his memory.

This year, money raised will go to the East Anglia Children’s Hospices.

Zoe said: “I had personal experience of some EACH services when my son was born critically ill.

“Henry was born with an extremely rare, life-limiting condition, meaning he needed around the clock care if he was to come home and EACH were there to offer their support from early on and helped prepare for this. They lifted a lot of stress and anxiety.

“Unfortunately, from birth Henry never made it out of hospital so didn’t receive the residential care we were expecting as he sadly passed away in hospital after deteriorating quickly.

“EACH continued their amazing support, leading up to Henry’s passing with memory making days and also afterwards with different bereavement therapies for myself and his big brother, George.

“They helped him come to terms with such a significant loss at a young and confusing age which became slightly easier with the support from the specialists at EACH.”

The event this year will be at the Colchester Officers’ Club in Londinium Road, Colchester, on September 8.

It will run from 11am until 4pm and attractions will include a barbecue, inflatables, petting zoo and live music.

If anyone is able to run a stall or donate prizes for a raffle they can contact Zoe via Henry’s Sunday Funday 2019 on Facebook.
