More than 100 people took a turn around Talkin Tarn to raise money for Eden Valley Hospice.

The third annual Laps for Loved Ones took place at Talkin Tarn last Sunday.

It got more than 150 people out and about, making laps of the popular walking route in the sunshine.

Sam Johnston, community and events fundraiser at Eden Valley Hospice, said: “The event is now in its third year and is going from strength to strength.

“We had lots of our staff attend as well as families who have lost loved ones at the Hospice.

“That made for such a wonderful atmosphere.

“Some people completed just one lap of the Tarn and others ran 15 miles round over the day.”

They’re still totting up the total amount of money raised in the event as sponsorship money is still coming in, but they are hoping to reach £5,000.

The fundraising event started in 2017 when two health care assistants, Carol Sharman and Rachael Little, completed 20 laps around the Tarn as a way to support the hospice.

Now, it has become a regular fixture in the fundraising diary.

The last two years have raised a total of £8,773 for the hospice - £5,355 in 2017 and £3,418 in 2018.
