FIRE crews freed a person trapped in their car in the middle of the night.

Two trucks from Tillingham and one from Burnham were called to the incident on Brook Road, Tillingham at 12.08am this morning (July 18).

There was a collision which involved one car hitting a tree.

A fire spokesman said: “On arrival, firefighters reported that one person was trapped in their car and worked with paramedics to release them by 1.40am.

“The casualty was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.”

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer vehicle were called.

An ambulance spokesman added: "One woman was transported to Broomfield Hospital for further assessment and care."
