Plans to build a new motorway service station between junctions 16 and 17 of the M25 have been submitted.

Extra Motorway Services have submitted the proposals, which compromise of a fuel filling station, a hotel containing up to 100 bedrooms, electric vehicle charging and a building which will contain up to 12 retail and restaurant units.

The new 147-acre site will also feature 978 car parking spaces, 52 disabled spaces, 22 motorcycle spaces and 241 other spaces for HGV’s, coaches and mobile caravans.

It would be built between the junction with the M40 near Denham and the Maple Cross junction, which is just east of Chalfont St Peter.

Up to 340 new jobs will also be created if the proposals are approved.

The developers already own a number of other motorway service stations, including sites in Beaconsfield on the M40 J2 and Cobham on the M25 J9/10.

The site is within green belt. Developers have said that they aim to negate the impact the new service station will have on the land by installing a green roof design, amongst other features.

In the proposals, the developers said: “A primary consideration of the design was the merging of the buildings in the surrounding landscape.

“The recent developments in green roof design not only permit a high level of thermal dampening, but also by their nature provide a haven for flora and fauna.”
