A HEADTEACHER is delighted after receiving positive feedback from education watchdogs.

Woodham Walter Primary School was rated as “good” by Ofsted overall with some areas “outstanding” following its latest inspection.

The outstanding elements are in the areas of early years provision and personal development, behaviour and welfare.

Headteacher Sue Dodd said: “I am delighted Ofsted has recognised all of the hard work by the staff to ensure the best for our children.

“Our school is a wonderful place to learn. We are very proud of our children and this achievement.

“We are particularly pleased with the outstanding rating for the early years provision. There is a strong family feel to our school and this rating is very reassuring for parents as their little ones transition from preschool and nursery environments to primary school.”

Chairman of governors Geoff Hicks congratulated the school on its achievements.

He said: “All of our staff work extremely hard to achieve goals which are part of our ongoing school improvement plan.”

In the report, inspector Gulshan Kayembe said: “Staff in reception have created a vibrant, exciting and stimulating learning environment which captures children’s interest and engages them fully in their learning. The headteacher provides strong leadership that is very successfully underpinned by a carefully considered set of shared values. She promotes, with relentless drive, a vision for education that encompasses the academic, personal, social and emotional development of each pupil.

“Pupils thrive and develop into well-rounded, confident pupils ready for future life.”
