A GRAYS Indian restaurant finished as a runner up in a prestigious competition - taking part in a cook-off in the House of Commons.

The Village Indiya restaurant earned second spot in the Tiffin Cup Competition after competing in the grand final cook off on July 2.

The Village Indiya was nominated by Thurrock’s MP Jackie Doyle-Price.

Mrs Doyle-Price said: “We are very fortunate in Thurrock to have a large choice of excellent South Indian restaurants to choose from.

“The food and ambience at Village Indiya is always fabulous and I am delighted that the judges have recognised this.

“Congratulations to all the staff.”
