Essex Police officers have spoken to a man in connection with a hit and run which left a toddler seriously injured last night.
The incident took place in Rectory Road last night shortly after 7pm when the three-year-old child was hit by a dark Nissan Juke.
While police initially reported the toddler had suffered a head injury, they have now confirmed he is still in hospital receiving treatment for an injury to the leg.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We have spoken to a man, aged in his 60s, in connection with a collision involving a toddler on Rectory Road, Pitsea, on Saturday, 6 July.
"A three year old boy remains in hospital with serious injuries to his leg, not to his head as first reported.
"Our enquiries are ongoing."
