A MOTORCYCLIST suffered life-changing injuries in a serious crash in Purbeck yesterday.

As reported, police, paramedics and the air ambulance were called to a the three-vehicle crash between the A35 Bakers Roundabout and the B3075 Morden Road at 4.25pm.

The collision involved a Honda motorbike, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van and a black Honda CRV.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s from Wareham, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries. Today, police have described his injuries as life-changing.

No one else was hurt.

The A351 Sandford Road was closed both ways with a diversion in place via the A35 and the B3075 Chitten Hill. Closures were lifted at 7pm.

Inspector Joe Pardey, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the manner of driving or riding immediately prior to the incident to please call Dorset Police.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have any relevant dashcam footage.

"Finally, I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during the road closure, which was entirely necessary to allow us to examine the scene and treat the injured rider."
