POLICE say an Akita Cross dog was seized by officers after another dog received severe injuries.
The owner - who was not with the dog at the time - was interviewed by officers.
The incident happened at King George's playing fields, Canvey, this morning.
Police urged the public to stay away following reports of a dangerous dog on the loose.
This afternoon, a police spokesman said: "The dog in question an Akita Cross has been seized by police and the owner who wasn't with the dog at the time of the attack has been interviewed.
"The attacked dog has received severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment for them.
"We would like to thank the members of public for their patience this morning whilst the incident was dealt with by the local policing team, Force support unit, dog unit and air support."
