Plans to convert a former butchers into a dog clinic were withdrawn after an outcry from residents.
Proposals for the works at Williams Butchers, Crammavill Street, Stifford Clays were met with objects and a petition.
The plans were for a dog breeding clinic but resident were worried about hygiene.
The applicants suggested creating four jobs.
The site is in a busy shopping parade.
